PACKAGING
Shipping beer needs extra attention because of the fragility of the bottles. We take care that the bottles are shipped in DHL, UPS & DPD certified, strong double-walled boxes. Inside cardboard dividers preserve your bottles from breakage or damage. Therefore, our largest box can contain maximum 24 bottles (see examples in the table above). If you have ordered more bottles without having reached the 30kg weight limit, an additional shipping fee in accordance with the country of destination will be charged separately. The bottle box system that we use is suitable for national and international shipments and for use with parcel carriers where the boxes are not guided over a conveyor belt with a drop height of 1 meter and more/ or when there is no throwing and throwing work during transport.

SUSTAINABILITY

The bottles that are shipped are packed in sturdy boxes made from recycled cardboard. We do not use plastic chips or other plastic filling material. The bottles that are collected are packed in boxes, which we recycle ourselves. The remaining cardboard and paper are collected monthly for recycling, as well as plastic films and PMD.
The electricity that Het Huis van de Geuze uses is largely self-generated using solar panels. The additional electricity that must be purchased comes from renewable or nuclear sources. Het Huis van de Geuze’s vehicles are either electrically powered or have an engine that meets the strict Euro 6.2 standard.
The transport service we use (DPD) takes all kinds of measures to keep the CO2 footprint per package as small as possible. The policy of DPD and Geopost is based on a Net Zero strategy. They want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90% by 2040 (compared to 2020). They are increasingly switching to electric vehicles, alternative fuels for trucks such as HVO and electric, and renewable energy in distribution centers. By 2023, the Group had more than 8,000 low-emission vehicles on the road, the energy at its sites was 80% electric and renewable and more than 100 European cities were already served with fully low-emission fleets. To achieve Net Zero, they are also preparing a progressive carbon offset program, based on high-quality carbon capture projects, including through (re)forestation.

HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE TO SUSTAINABLE SHIPPING?
By ordering smart! We ship the bottles in boxes that can hold a maximum of 6, 12 or 18 large bottles or 8, 16 or 24 small bottles. If you take these quantities into account during the ordering process, an extra (almost empty) box should not be provided unnecessarily. If your order consists of both small and large bottles, use the table of ‘HOW CAN YOU OPTIMIZE SHIPPING COSTS?’ (see above).

TRACK & TRACING

When you have entered an e-mail address and mobile number when ordering, you will normally receive automatically a track & trace link. If this link, for whatever reason, should not work, you can also enter the parcel label number on the DPD Track & Trace page.
